We’re Engaged!

13 Aug

Okay, so we got engaged fifteen months ago, but we are so excited to share with you our long overdue engagement photo shoot with the talented (and mom-to-be) Maggie McGill!  DB and I knew we wanted an engagement shoot and Maggie was up for the challenge of creating pictures that reflected DB & DB-to-Be….which obviously meant a day revolving around eating and drinking.

We also took some unique pics around the city and Maggie did an amazing job of NOT capturing how awkward we are.  It even looks like we love each other.  It’s magic I tell you! 🙂

She also learned that DB can’t keep his eyes open and I have terrible posture.  Trust me when I say this is a good thing to learn now instead of on November 3.

Enjoy the full photo shoot highlights here on Maggie’s blog and let us know what you think!  xoxo db2be

Happy Engagement-Versary!

7 May

DB and I celebrated our one year anniversary of getting enagaged with a lovely dinner at Union Square Cafe, the same place we celebrated on April 30 in 2011.

Being there brought back amazing memories of the day DB pulled off the sneakiest of surprises (even though I swore he wasn’t good at them) and proposed!  It was an absolute whirlwind and I can’t believe the wedding is still only six months away!

DB, thanks for being you.  xoxo db2be

I’m a Sucker for Creativity

18 Jul

The headline says it all.  I like to think that I am a thoughtful person so I always appreciate when people do that same.

About five weeks ago, we got a notification from Crate and Barrel that someone purchased twelve napkin rings off our registry.  A few weeks go by and no napkin rings arrive. I’m thinking this has to be a mistake.

Anyway, yesterday evening, DB’s sister, LB, delivered our long-anticipated engagement gift.  Surely enough, we found the napkin rings, but it didn’t end there.  LB completed her ring-themed gift with a super-cute ring holder from Urban’s new bridal company BHLDN.

There was also an assortment of Ring Pops.  Remember those?

Well done, LB!  Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift.  And thanks for being a great FSIL.  You might be trumping us all in excitement.     xo db2be
PS  Does this mean I’m forgiven from missing your graduation?

We’re Famous!

We may not make the New York Times wedding announcements, but who cares? Danielle and I have made it into an even more impressive publication – the Whisper Walk Bulletin, the newsletter at my grandparents’ retirement community in Boca Raton, FL!

Enjoy!

Whisper Walk engagement announcement!

Can you feel the love tonight?

26 May

I can’t believe the overwhelming love I feel from friends and family since the engagement.  DB and I are the luckiest people in the world!  The cards and excitment keeps going and going and going!  I hope this never ends. 🙂

Last night, my new work team scheduled a meeting in the city at one of my favorite hotel bars, The Royalton.  It was supposed to be a pr strategy meeting, but low and behold it was just a decoy to toast in more excitement.  Many thanks to the ladies!

Sans Singlans

16 May

If you know anything about me, you know about the hooks. I am so lucky to have such an amazing group of friends who would move mountains for each other.  We have been friends since school and needless to say, a lot of funny moments have popped up over the years.

Back in the summer of 2007, we celebrated a boyfriend by getting Lo a cake.  I’m not sure why we bought this cake, but needless to say a tradition was born.  I mean, look at that excitement!

Then it was KW’s turn.  The following Memorial Day, we celebrated the relationship of her now fiancee on the beach. Because that’s a completely normal place to enjoy ice cream cake, right?

Don't get sand in the cake!

We also started singing a song to go with the cake entitled “Sans Singlans” to the tune of “Here Comes the Bride.”  Here is a pic of KGB’s cake from her bachelorette.

Needless to say, having been dating DB before and after these cakes, I felt a little slighted.  Where was my cake?  That all changed on the day after our engagement when the hooks called me into the kitchen at our impromptu party…

My cake!

My first tears of the whole weekend!

The ring!!

15 May

I love love LOVE my engagement ring.  I’m so glad the hints I have been dropping for the past few years did not go unnoticed.  It was modeled after Ivanka Trump’s engagement ring.

DB started the ring shopping process while my new job shipped me off to Switzerland for ten days.  He was able to take care of everything including asking for my parents permission, getting things started with the ring creation process and most excitingly, informing all of my friends of his intentions.   What a sneaky guy!! xo db2be
